Caleb Marsh - Pilot/Instructor

Caleb was born and raised in the Mid-West and began his aviation journey as a senior in high school. At age 18 he earned his Private Pilot License through training by his older brother. He graduated from Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS with a degree in Business Administration. While there he received his flight training through both his brother and Hesston Aviation (flying out of Newton Airport) including his Commercial License and Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) with Instrument Rating (CFII).  In 2013, he added a multi-engine Commercial license to the mix as well.

Since becoming a CFI in 2006, he has worked for Hesston Aviation, and then moved on to start his own independent flight training business. The business has been active over the years in Emporia, Hillsboro, and most recently El Dorado, Kansas training many pilots.  Caleb has earned the Gold Seal flight instructor designation from the FAA with the amount of his students passing checkrides on their first attempt.

Caleb and his wife Jillian have four children and have been in El Dorado since the summer of 2010 when Caleb began managing the El Dorado Airport for the City of El Dorado.

After working for the City of El Dorado, he was a fleet manager for an aerial imagery company for several years flying throughout the US and some locations in Canada.  His roles there included training pilots, overseeing pilots, acquiring aircraft, and maintaining aircraft.

Through the years Caleb has owned aircraft, bought/sold aircraft, helped others find aircraft for themselves, and assisted in many aircraft deals.  He knows General Aviation and can help you in your Aviation Journey!

N54165 - Cessna 172 Rental Airplane

N54165 is a 1981 Cessna 172P and has been part of Marsh Flying Services since July 2014.  Caleb looked very hard for a great airplane and found this one.  It has a strong 160 horse power engine, has a very clean looking interior and exterior, and has been a great flying aircraft for MFS customers.  From the biggest airports in the area to smaller ones with grass strips, it gets in and out with ease.  Stop by the airport and Caleb can let you see it for yourself.  In the future, upgrades will happen as necessary to maximize the utility for this great aircraft.

Eventually when this plane needs a paint job, probably years from now, it will be changing Tail Numbers to keep this airplane in the appropriate perspective in life.  MFS hopes to change it to N619GW or something very close to that.  This tail number change is based on 2 things.

First, the “619” is based on Matthew 6:19-21 from the Bible which says:

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Second, the “GW” stands for a great friend and mentor of Caleb’s named George Ward.   George has really lived out these verses and if you know George you know who he lived his life for.  So N619GW will remind Caleb that this airplane is just an airplane and shouldn't compete with Jesus for his rightful spot as King of his life.  If you have any questions about this please ask Caleb and he’d love to talk with you about it.
